Skeeter, Our Mascot

School Mascot

Our school was named after the Cuban scientist, Dr. Carlos Juan Finlay, who discovered that the very infectious disease, Yellow Fever, was being transmitted by the Aedes Aegypti Mosquito. Through his discovery many lives were saved.

“Skeeter” was created as our official mascot by a local artist, Gino Valderrrama in April of 2000.

At Dr. Carlos J. Finlay Elementary School, teachers and staff transmit knowledge and love to students who have the fever to learn!
